I have over 40+ years’ experience within the bookkeeping and accounting industry. Early on in my career, I worked in the construction material wholesale and retail world. This opportunity opened many doors, one of which was the Controller of Visnic Homes, a nationally recognized custom home builder in the MD/DC/VA area. Overseeing all departments and financial reporting, including Percentage of Completion, Completed Contract Financials and Cash Flow Projections were part of my workflow.
My next adventure led to a sales manager position for Craftmark Homes in Clarksburg Village, MD. As a real estate agent, the builder selected me from a large pool of agents in the region. I was chosen to sell out the community of single-family homes in this neighborhood. My duties included walking lots with potential clients, home and elevation selections, pricing homes with options; standard and non-standard. Working closely with the project manager and main office on a daily basis until homes settled. I truly enjoyed working with the people at Craftmark Homes.
Onward to Potomac Valley Builders in Bethesda, MD. I returned to the Controller world of custom home building. For the next 5+ years, I managed Accounts Receivable and Payable, Human Resources, Office Management, and Payroll. Prepared monthly AIA billings for projects and architect certification. Prepped Time and Material billings with detailed supporting documentation. Controller duties included monthly financial statements, job cost accounting, and year end close financials for accountants.
Today, I’m eager to help business owners with all aspects of operating a successful company. I’m familiar with Sage 100 Contractor, Quickbooks, and Microsoft programs. In my experience, most owners do not have time to manage the day-to-day business tasks. The majority prefer to expand their company and build a stronger brand to attain and retain their client base.
